President’s Report: Paul and Ellen Sucatre
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE- Another year has zipped by and in January it will be our 8th Anniversary as Co Prezes!! Time Flies- we hope to make it to 10 and then ... IT''S YOUR TURN !!
We have a lot going on in the next few months: Interclub, Drop In, Holiday Party and a January Tournament.—So get your racquet restrung and your dancing shoes on!!
I want to thank our wonderful Board for doing such a great job this year and making us look good! THANKS to those staying on (yes, it is almost impossible to leave!) and A BIG THANK YOU to all our captains this past year for their time and effort in a thankless task! For a community club without a clubhouse, I think we do pretty well keeping tennis alive in our community.
Get well wishes to Leonhard W – our Club Champ Chairman for umpteen years who is recovering from hip surgery. No more singles for him – wore out his artificial hip! Hope the new one is titanium, Leonhard...
SEE YOU ON THE COURTS! – P/E

Tidbits
Baytrees is resurfaced. Thanks to all those who pressured H.A.R.D. to act on those worn courts, especially Elaine Hackenkamp for her perserverance.
Great opportunities to be part of it all: The Secretary’s slot is open and we welcome a volunteer to fill this slot. About 4 meetings for the year.
Also, anyone is welcome to volunteer to share one interclub this coming year. It entails setting up the players/teams and buying the food. Bruce W brings the beverages, his specialty. If you’d like to help or manage 1 event, Email SLTC10S@HOTMAIL.COM.

Epiphany at Baytrees
Have you noticed that among Tennis Players, there seems to be gender- specific injuries. Number 1 injury among men is the groin pull. We’ve got to call a halt to this. Somebody is running around pulling groins. This is ridiculous. While I’m not totally sure who it is, I’m inclined to think that it’s that scruffy little guy who looks like an unmade bed. You know who I mean: purple shorts, green faded T-shirt, head band from and American flag and whiskers that will never pass for a real beard. On a change-over, do not let this guy get behind you!
The ladies among us do not get groin pulls. They seem to “tweak a thigh muscle”; “I’ve hyper-extended my knee”.
The women say: “I’m experiencing Plantar Fasciitis”; the men say: “My feet hurt like hell”. Maybe it’s a Venus/Mars thing. Recently I overheard the following conversation:
Mixed Doubles Captain: “You are playing Number 2 tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.”
Female team member: “I can’t. I’ve got Plantar Fasciitis.”
Mixed Doubles Captain: “Come on and play; you will be done by 11:00 and you still have all
afternoon to plant your fuchsias.”
The women say: “I think that he is experiencing some depth perception; his calls are strange”; Laurence of Crow Canyon will say: “The SOB IS AS BLIND AS A BAT”.
Have you noticed that the women don’t really argue line calls. The Friday afternoon men’s group spends a lot of time talking about each others mother and seldom is it complimentary. I have never heard – “How is your lovely mother?”
Norma says: “I can’t play today; my allergies are acting up”.
Bruce W. says “Forget it; I’m hung over”.
The women say: “ It’s important to drink a lot of water”.
Little Bill says: It’s important to drink a lot of beer”.
Through it all, most women seem to prefer mixed doubles; the men prefer to go many o mano. Go figure. The women are in need of more men for mixed doubles. They might even welcome the scruffy little guy who’s been pulling the groins. Isn’t tennis great? --Winston Wong
