The character of Zorro had been created
in 1919 by author Johnston McCulley, and the masked hero was first
brought to life in silent movies by swashbuckling actor, Douglas
Fairbanks Sr. In the 1940s, the very popular movie star, Tyrone Power
reprised the role.

Following in the footsteps of two of Hollywood's biggest
stars would have been a challenge for any actor. But Guy
Williams was
up to the task. Walt Disney's Zorro brought an energetic zest to the show and
quickly made the role his own, creating such a captivating
dual character that nearly fifty years later, many people
consider him to have been the ultimate
Zorro. |
